Doctoral candidate Zak Apolito was recently awarded a Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School Student Persistence Scholarship. This award recognizes the resilience and determination in pursuit of scholarly excellence that Zak has demonstrated throughout his graduate career. It is a great honor, and very well-deserved! HML lab member and Schreyer Honors College student Paige Miller completed her Honors Thesis entitled ‘Comparative Intrinsic Foot Muscle Size in Humans and Other Apes’ and graduated from PSU. She was also accepted into Boston University's Biomedical Forensic Sciences MS program, and will start in the Fall. Thanks and congratulations to Paige, and good luck in your next adventure!

Zak Apolito, Nick Holowka, and Kevin Palmisano participated in the 2026 American Association of Biological Anthropologists meeting in Denver, CO. Zak and Kevin presented posters about their work on bipedal stability and foot biomechanics, respectively, and Nick gave a symposium presentation about research on locomotion in forests.

Zak Apolito and Nick Holowka participated in the 2025 Northeast Evolutionary Primatology (NEEP) Meeting held at University of Pennsylvania. Zak received an Honorable Mention designation in the competition for Best Student Poster.
